I have spent twenty-five years building and running membership systems for Australian associations, unions and peak bodies. For most of those years I sold them the way the whole industry sold them: a core here, a website there, a module when you needed one, and integrations to hold it together.

Bond Software Group has been building for this sector for twenty years, including the flexible, ungoverned platform I have since written about at length. Nexy is what came of understanding why that model stopped working.

I write about membership technology because the sector is handed a great deal of advice and very little measurement. Most of what I publish argues with something we used to sell, which is the only kind of argument worth reading from a vendor.
